The Biosphere-certified Abama Golf is committed to maximising sustainability in golf, making constant improvements to our course and business operations. It was the first course in Tenerife to be EMAS certified by the European Union.

Course management
2024 renovation of the greens with Bermuda Grass TifEagle, a more sustainable species that requires less water and is less susceptible to plant illness
The course is watered with desalinated water produced in Abama's own desalinator, and does not draw from local water resources
Abama Golf uses its own plant waste to create natural compost and fertiliser that we use on the course
Use of vinegar rather than chemical pesticides on weeds

Abama Golf has installed advanced software that optimizes course watering and a meteorological station that allows for precise watering
Staff use electric buggies for transport
Client buggies' lead batteries have been replaced with lithium batteries to save significant energy when recharging
